It is very, very clear in the eyes of Federal Copyright law that reproducing my, or any patterns for any purpose or reason is illegal whether you rename it and try to claim it as your own design or if you photocopy or trace it.
There is also very little or no "time statute" on patterns. Also, a design does not have to have a copyright symbol on it for it to be copyrighted.  

 Any copyright infringement will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
